Last we checked, Nao was about to give Takumi the thrill of his life. Fortunately, at the last minute, Ikkitousen-hater Akira shows up and spirits Takumi away. Akira uses standard ninja tricks to escape, but the odds are heavily stacked against her. Nao finds the two (she attached a string to them before they fled), and Sister Yukariko prevents them from getting away with some genjutsu. That’s right, Ishigami has convinced Yukariko to use her giant chess piece to trap Akira and Takumi in an illusion, causing them to run around in circles. The ghostly HiME then appears to complete the axis of evil, and keep Gennai grounded. Mikoto is just walking around in the woods when she spots the crow CHILD and goes beserk again. Mai sorta shuffles to the rescue, and finally reaches Takumi and Akira, thanks to everyone helping her. However, Mai’s so wishy washy and slow that Mikoto got bored and started attacking Akira and Gennai. Before Mai can do a single useful thing, Mikoto has beheaded the mechanical frog, and now Takumi is gone. Mai goes banannas and attacks Mikoto full force. In the middle of it, Kagutsuchi is held back by some new hydra CHILD and in the flames we see a Shizuru-shaped sillouhette wielding a Guan Dao. Of course by this point Mikoto has snapped out of her crazed funk for just long enough to be confused that Mai is attacking her. Mai realizes something weird is going on, but damnit Kagutsuchi is bored of all this mushy crap and blasts Mikoto with a fireball. Nothing is left in the wake of the blast, and a really depressed Mai stumbles in the rain right into Reito’s arms.

First off, Akira is obviously a lousy ninja. If she had any ninja skillz at all, the moment that Mikoto cut Gennai in half, there would have been a big poof and a sliced log would have fallen to the ground. This is just the way things are meant to be. Takumi biting the big one wasn’t too surprising by this point, since the writers have already made it clear that they’re willing to write characters off the show. Takumi was sick and wimpy, and moreover studies have shown that having 2 HiME’s love you doubles your chance of dying of a heart attack. Mikoto’s bloodrage is a little confusing, however. It makes sense that she would be mad at the crow CHILD, but she needs to get her glowing eyes checked. Jeez Mikoto, how many times do we have to tell you that crow != frog (I know, I know, sometimes after a few too many drinks they look similar)? And what’s up with her portable head shadow? Very Heartless.

Ha, I would *die* laughing if I saw Akira pull off a replication in the middle of her battle — but perhaps ’1000 years of pain’ would be a more potent weapon in her arsenal ^^

Well, I kinda doubt that we’ll get to see much more Akira in the remaining eps ^_^;;

Too bad, as it would have been so awesome if right after Gennai was slashed, he turned into a log in a poof, and then suddenly the real Gennai stomped down on Mikoto as a grinning Akira stood up with wind flutes and electric guitars playing in the background.

“I won’t let you take my pansyman! Because… That is my way of the Ninja!”

… and just for good measure…

“To become HiMEkage is my dream!”

Don’t forget the mandatory “Sooya!” that needs to be in the background.

Yeah, I can’t believe that no-fun Akira ruins Nao’s chance of playing S&M with Takumi. Just because she’s P-R-U-D-E, doesn’t mean that everyone else is. :D

Didn’t you say the same thing about a certain blue-haired gal? :p

Sheesh. Give the 13 year old kid a break! Looking at it from our view, we’d say “oh, should’ve done this, should’ve done that” well, it didn’t happen, so BLEH. Akira did her best.
