Yoruichi tries her best to help bring the Hollow-fighting spirits out of Orihime and Chad with little success at first. However, after some concentrated effort, Orihime does manages to gain her powers from the 6 Flowers of the Hibiscus Shield, but one member, Tsubaki, seems rather disgruntled after being called upon for no reason, and as you can see, he takes things out on Orihime 
Meanwhile, Ichigo continues to struggle to get out of the deep hole that he dug himself into while his soul chain continues to devour itself. There was an obligatory moment of humor when Jinta and Ururu offered their spit (of all things o_O) to quench Ichigo’s thirst. Unfortunately, the 72 hour life span of the severed soul chain eventually expires as the last part of the soul chain expires rather quickly, sending Ichigo into a state of becoming a Hollow.
However, Ichigo manages to do some “soul searching” in his mind and runs into a mysterious dark figure whose name Ichigo cannot hear. This dark figure reminds Ichigo that he is devoid of Rukia’s death god powers, and that Ichigo’s own death god powers still lurk somewhere, but it needs to be found before he becomes a Hollow. Fortunately, Ichigo manages to find his hidden powers, and eventually snaps out of the Hollow transformation in truly explosive fashion to get out off the hole and pass the 2nd challenge. Up next, Ichigo must knock off Urahara’s hat in the 3rd challenge!
