As those of us who follow fansubbing closely no doubt realize, many companies have been applying pressure to fansubbing groups. You may want to check out this article that appeared on CNET today, detailing what’s been going on. An interesting read, regardless of how you feel about the issue.
Personally, I think fansubbers are horrible, wicked people for making me want to buy DVDs for anime series like Kaleido Star that I would never ever consider watching otherwise. Damn fansubbers…

“It is technically illegal.” (David Williams, a producer at ADV Films)
Well, I’m relieved it’s non-technically legal then. Though, I’m not so sure what he meant. Maybe he refered to the horrible English dubs.
LMAO! Nice article. Thanks for the link. I wonder if any of them have considered that the sales of their “middle category” series are low because they might have put their expectations too high? Or perhaps it’s not *gasp* actually worth the money? Sure as hell I’ll pay $25 for something like Bakuretsu Tenshi… pfft.
Nonetheless, I still wonder why R2 DVDs are so massively expensive. For example, R2 DVD: Last Exile 1-2 (yes 2 eps) 47,- EUR; the translated version at Amazon: 1-9 (yes, 9 eps – that’s 2 packages actually) only 44,- EUR. Maybe the ratio is an indicator about how bad the dub is.
