With the Pantasia bake-off soon approaching, Kawachi continues to train harder and harder to gain the solar gauntlets, but it seems like the competition has put a damper on his friendship with Kazuma as Kazume thinks that people only try to beat those who they hate. Luckily, Ken comes by and tells Kazuma the truth about Kawachi viewing him as a rival, and this inspires Kazuma to head to Gifu where his other grandfather lives to prepare for the upcoming bake-off. Unfortunately, on the day of the bake-off, Kazuma finds himself late once again and has 5 points taken from his score. Hmm…where have we seen this happen before? Yakitate Japan 10 icon razz

Everyone loves livals, and we see the benefits of livalry as both Kawachi and Kazuma push themselves to be the best artisans that they can be. It should be interested to see what is in the box that Kazuma’s grandfather had cooked up for him. On a sadder note, it was sort of sad to see that Kazuma’s grandfather passes away, but at least he passed away a happy man who got to savor Japan #44 Yakitate Japan 10 icon smile

I know it was all great that Kazuma’s grandpa got to help him out, but no one noticed that he was dead!!!! They just ran out all happy and left his body there T_T…

yea, great scene in the manga too! When we find out later about what happens to Kazuma’s grandpa and what he was doing there in Gifu, things started to make sense.

Yeah, it was sort of sad to see Kazuma and his sister leave their grandpa like that, but at least his angel looked happy and content ^_^

Was this his grandpa on his mom’s side or his dad’s side?

I don’t think the story ever mentioned which side of the family Kazuma’s grandfathers come from. However, since Kazuma shares a family name with the grandfathers, then I’d assume that he’s from Kazuma’s mother’s side since in Japan, a husband and a child normally takes the wife/mother’s family name.

I guess someone has to say it… Kawachi is freaking ripped after only one month’s training! o_O
