There aren’t any major mishaps at Yukio’s first live show, but the show isn’t good enough to get everybody dancing. Yukio mopes about his sucky guitar playing to Maho, but then hears a sweet song that just begs for his angelic engrish (Chiba’s engrish is too punk, apparently). When Yukio volunteers to sing this new song (“Face”) Ryuusuke wrote for/about Maho, he wows everybody to the point where Chiba is afraid he will get kicked out. Even Taira finally comes to understand the importance of chemistry, and everyone agrees that both Yukio and Saku deserve to be officially inducted into the band. Yukio is pumped up for the next live show, but on his way there he runs into Rikia. Rikia wants to bust Yukio’s newest guitar, but this time Yukio stands up to him. When Rikia busts Yukio’s charm (the guitar pick he got from Maho), Yukio goes on the offensive… and gets hip thrown to the ground. Fortunately Chiba comes to his rescue and gets in some dirty blows when Ryuusuke and the rest of the band arrive on the scene.
The music was really good this episode, although the acoustic engrish was a bit strong during the first performance of “Face”. Yukio showed some real guts though, and it was good to see Chiba sucker-kick Rikia in front of his idol. I never would have figured Rikia for a Ryuusuke groupie, but go figure. Maho and Yukio are showing better and better chemistry every day. I definitely like Yukio better when he has drums, guitar, and bass to back up his voice, but “Face” really was a pretty good song. No Momoko-sensei this time, but the mention of Momo-chan was enough to get Saitou to agree to attend Beck’s next live performance.

Curses! Kabitzin, your reviews have got me addicted into this series — I am now horribly dependent on upcoming fansubs! Grrr . . . . XD
yes, another one joins the BECK addiction!
Haha, woo I am gonna pour tobasco on your head! I hear the manga is excellent as well, although I personally prefer the anime so far.
I actually like the manga a lot more. There’s more room for humor than the anime is allowing. Plus it’s funnier how they have a shining light everytime Koyuki sings
Hmm, I didn’t notice when they fixed the spelling of “Mongolian”. Also, since when did they start using CG guitars?
