In episode 11, Sister Yukariko was revealed as a rookie HiME, and now it’s clear she’s pretty freaked out by her powers. I guess she isn’t a Legolas fangirl. Meanwhile, Mai gets upset that no one will help her catch the vampire, so Director Mashiro calls Yukino on the HiME hotline, and it turns out that Yukino has some kind of plant-tentacle-surveillance CHILD. Yukino’s spy pods reveal that Natsuki got captured by Miyu (not killed, however, since Natsuki was smart enough not to summon her little doggie, Duran) while off investigating major school sponsor Iwasaki Pharmaceutical. Mai and Mikoto race to Natsuki’s aid, but Miyu and Alyssa get away. Back at SEARRS, everyone is getting tired of Father Joseph Glear’s retarded ecchi ORPHAN plans, and so he gets fired. Just to add insult to injury, it turns out Alyssa haxxored his Miyu. PWNED!!!!

I have to admit, Nagi has been less annoying lately. This is solely because he is the only substantial source of info about the connection between the HiMEs, ORPHANs, CHILDs, and First District. The whole vampire bit was kinda neat, too. I was as surprised as could be when Yukino was revealed as a HiME! I thought for sure her only power was wearing her glasses upside down (this bothers me sooooo much during the show). Her CHILD was certainly… unique. I guess I was sorta surprised by Sister Yukariko being a HiME, but that was more of a ‘who cares’ revelation. Finally, the ORPHANs are really starting to remind me of goofy sentai show villains. They eat cake and steal underwear!

As an aside, if you haven’t done so already, you owe it to yourself to check out Garten’s tome of Mai Hime commentary. Yes it is quite long, and yes it is quite dense, but it is also very good (you know, like FMA). I was especially intrigued by the discussion of how the manga and anime differ. Tate sounds like quite the playa, going around and touching all the HiME elements… Oh behave!

Actually, Yukino isn’t wearing her glasses upside down. I’ve seen glasses with similar design. It’s become pretty popular to remove part of or the entire rim around the glasses. I’ve own a pair myself that only have a rim around the top.

I even found a pair of glasses that have a design that look’s somewhat similar to the ones Yukino is wearing.

Wow, I was just joking about them being upside down, but I am surprised that this is really a style made for glasses! Thanks for the sweet link, and sorry to anyone who has these frames that I insulted ^^. I have seen a lot of glasses without the bottom part of the frame, but never ones without the top.

At the rate the manga goes, Mikoto maybe the only girl left who’s immune to Tate’s charm. She’ll chop his hand with Miroku first before she’ll allow him to touch Miroku. o_o”

Although in Tate’s defense, the girls are the ones who throw themselves at him sometimes. Have you read what Youko (the nurse) said to him? :0 Nao I can understand. But Youko?

From which chapter? Early on when she treats him an wants to check out if he’s her key too, or in a later chapter? ;)

There is more than one time when she throws herself to him? How come I miss that? I only saw the first one.

Yeah, I don’t seem to remember the water tentacle monster in the anime… Although a TON of misc. loose ends really get tied up nicely in the manga, such as why Shiho likes Tate so much and why the CHILD’s (or is it CHILDREN… erggg, reminds me of NGE) are thus named. Surprisingly ecchi, though.

At first I went with ‘Childs’ but after a while it sounds kind of wrong so I end up changing it to ‘Children’. But I suspect the first one is the correct one. Arrgh! what to do? And yes, it’s very NGE-ish.
