Just watched School Rumble 9 recently, and was struck by how uncharacteristically serious it was, seeming to be more KimiNozo than Scrumble (barring the extremely random bits of nonsense). How many episodes till it becomes funny again?

s’all gravy. The ratio from seriousness VS comedy is like 1:10 in the manga. Though it’s a good change of pace from total comedy…

Let’s not get carried away… it wasn’t _that_ depressing. For it to reach KimiNozo levels, Tenma would have to get hit by a car after she finally got Karasuma to love her, leaving Karasuma to go out with Eri, who on one drunken night would get with Harima. And then the X-Box cat would get hit by a train. And we all know that that won’t happen until episode 14.
at most it could get is as much as Battle Royale
or rather Eri – Harima – Yakumo for love triangle story, the best arc of Schrum
