We know the Orochi consist of people who have suffered greatly in their lifetime, but we don’t really know much of the specifics (save for Souma’s bro). This ep gives a peek into their lives before their conversion to the dark side, which gives some much-needed depth to the former villians. Too bad this only comes after they’re goners. Loli-trash catgirl isn’t so amusing now that I know how she became that way 
Compared to their various tribulations, I don’t see how Chikane got to be an Orochi. I mean, she’s lived a life of luxury, and the only bad thing to happen to her is that her best friend decides to snog Souma rather than her. Sheesh, is being straight a crime? I suppose in a shoujo-ai anime it could be, but still….

from the clue when she fight Souma’s brother, it might be not when she’s Chikane, but when she’s still the priestess of the moon.
I still don’t understand what exactly happened to loli-trash catgirl based from the flashback. Anyone want to clear that up for me?
I think she was basically used as an experimental guinea pig.
Its a real shame that we’ll never learn more of Loli-trah’s backstory.
Ah well, I think Chikane got to be an Orochi because of what we saw happen to Himeko/Solar Priestess near the beginning, and because she WANTED to be one.
Hmm… I’ve got a hunch Chikane is doing this for Himeko’s sake.
Chikane likes Himeko and doesn’t want her to go through hell with the Orochis. So, she somehow fake it (even being genuine) that she’s depressed and went to the Orochis (by raping Himeko, coz that way, it’ll convince the orochis that she has turned evil) …
We know Chikane has deep thoughts that nobody knows her reasons for doing what she’s doing… Liken what Souma said in chapter 9 (when he lost to Chikane in a tennis tournament), Chikane does things not because she wants to win/ lose, she has her own reasons and she doesn’t like telling people.
Further to that, we saw glimpses of Chikane with a samurai sword and Himeko stabbed dead. Chikane may think if she goes ahead with summoning the ultimate Kenshi no Whatever, she will end up killing Himeko. Such being the case, Chikane rather go hell herself than bring Himeko with her.
Hmm… for your info, i have not yet watched chapter 10. This is all my personal thoughts & deduction…
I dunno, she seems pretty genuinely evil to me.
If your theory was correct, however, it would be highly reminiscent of Arashi joining the dark side in X TV.
I almost fell out of my chair laughing when Chikane delivered her letter to HImeko that basically said that “it’s ON… orochi style” (as Momotato put it) ^^.
I mean, seriously, it’s refreshing to see someone be really mean and play crazy mind games with the innocent, cheery, clutzy stereotypical heroine. I don’t want to see Himeko die, but Chikane totally roxx the soxx.
What the orochi had to endure in their previous lives was a little lopsided. It was sorta comical seeing Reiko struggling as a manga artist sandwiched between Nazi experiments and prostitution. I guess that’s why she was the least enthusiastic of the orochi.
What are you talking about, drawing is really hard and way harder than getting used by Nazi’s for experiments!!!!!!
I don’t think Loli-trash was a victim of Nazi experiments per se, the setting she was in looked way too modern. The nun is definitely from WWII era though.
And the idol wasn’t a prostitute, she was raped, probably by her manager, knowing how that story usually goes. (I’m suddenly reminded of Parade Parade, minus the Futanari…)

And Loli-trash IS a ridiculously amusing name, and so perfect for her.
I still find it amusing that Chikane offed her by shooting her in the butt. While the other Orochi are all frozen in painful looking death throes, loli-trash’s hilarious predicament takes the edge off the angst.
Oh no!! The orz trend is rapidly spreading throughout the english-speaking anime fandom!!?!! Raaahhh…
And yeah, I also thought it was rather jerking to see loli-trash (yes yes, we all pay homage to Momotato) poked in the butt like that, it was rather unelegant (but again, entirely fitting).
I need to say that I also *love* it when the stupid ditzy, overly cute and traditional and nice goody-goody types like get screwed around by much more elegant and intelligent counterparts. Listening to Chikane… I keep hearing Lafiel’s voice (same style of speaking sometimes, same voice actor), but Lafiel >>> Chikane anyway

Definitely Chikane has reasons behind what she’s doing (see the part where she holds the sun & moon pendants closely), but i presume she’s been controlled also!

As usual, the homophobes are pretty quick to snap up shows with shoujo-ai themes then turn around and blast them.Makes me wonder why bother watching them in the first place.Oh, I forgot, it’s mainly for the girl on girl action they are hoping to see.Should go for hentai instead cause over here we are talking real emotions where there is genuine love involved. You are obviously watching the show with your eyes and ears closed. Why do you think Chikane joined the orochi? Do you really think she’s with the orochi?
P.s I’ve finished the entire series,but even then I more or less figured out her intentions and some of her reasons.
