Yukio and Izumi visit Ryuusuke’s place at the fishing pond and find that he has a lot of rock CDs and shoujo manga. Unfortunately for Yukio, Ryuusuke’s quite the charmer, and Yukio feels like he can’t compete with Ryuusuke’s general bishie-ness. Ryuusuke invites the duo to see his current band (Serial Mama) perform. Tensions are running high because there is a talent scout in the audience, and Ryuusuke and co-tensai Eiji have a disagreement over stage gimmicks. The performance encounters technical difficulties and the performance ends up being mediocre. After the performance, Yukio hears a drunken Kayo and some random Serial Mama fanboy debate the lameness of the performance at yet another bar. The next day Izumi gives Yukio a Dying Breed CD and it’s the beginning of Yukio’s growing interest in the world of rock music (although he keeps thinking about Ryuusuke’s sister Minami Maho). Elsewhere Eiji and Ryuusuke each declare that they want to create the best band… even if it’s not together.

Although a whole lot didn’t happen in this episode, I really liked the pace of it. A lot of important subtle tidbits were revealed, such as Ryuusuke being the son of a company president. He must be rebelling as you don’t usually see rich kids living in a shack by a fishing pond. Ryuusuke and his sister also seem to be somewhat uncomfortable in Japan after living in America (and there is even more engrish, although not as much as in episode 1). I wonder if Yukio’s music taste will shift from J-Pop to rock now that he has had a taste of Dying Breed. Meanwhile, a bit of a love web seems to be emerging between Ryuusuke, Izumi, Yukio, and Maho.

BTW, this series has the shortest and least informative previews that I’ve ever seen. Why even bother?!
