Episode three continues where we left off when Ichigo vanquished the lizard-like Hollow that tried to jump him while he was sleeping. Ichigo managed to crack the hideous mask of the Hollow to get a glimpse of the face behind the mask, and he quickly realized that the Hollow was Inoue’s brother. Rukia quickly deducts that since the Hollow failed to capture Ichigo, it now must go after a relative that it longs for, and Inoue becomes the next target for this Hollow.
Rukia proves to be right, as the Hollow/Inoue’s brother quickly goes after Inoue and her friend Tatsuki, who almost finds herself sent to the Soul Society until Inoue intervenes. Ichigo and Rukia quickly make it to Inoue’s home and manage to stop Inoue’s brother from doing too much damage.
Most of this episode was sort of a sappy look back the history between Inoue and her brother, and how Inoue’s brother felt left out since Inoue stopped praying to him. This causes Inoue’s brother’s soul to linger about, making him a perfect target for the Hallows to consume. However, they both manage to settle any difference between them and say goodbye appropriately. Lastly, Ichigo finally decides to take on the full responsibilities of a DEATH GOD!!! I did get a good chuckle of the Men in Black-like device that Rukia uses to implant fake memories into people
