“Walking slowly is preferred here.” So goes the motto of the Lilian Girl’s Academy of Maria-sama ga Miteru. Everything is always peaceful and rosy, and there’s plenty of shoujo-ai to go around. Now imagine a bunch of Gundams drop by and begin blowing stuff up. Enter Kannaduki no Miko, which surprisingly enough, is not intended to be a parody.

So we have your typical klutzy innocent cute girl (Himeko), and on the other hand we have the school idol(Himemiya), who’s the daughter of a distinguished family and is good at everything. Said idol has blue hair and is inexplicably attracted to the innocent little brown haired girl, and they become friends. They say gokigenyou to each other a lot, and spend time together in a rose garden. And then there’s the male idol of the school (Souma), who rumormongers believe is going to ask the rich girl out. However, he happens to be a childhood friend of the cute girl, and wants to ask her out. Unfortunately, the next day he gets possessed by some evil power and gets this huge-ass robot to kill Himeko. Meanwhile an evil looking lady with her own purple tentacle robot is waiting on the sidelines to see the completion of her master plan. But Souma breaks free of the evil powers that be, and attacks her instead. Meanwhile, Himemiya performs some CPR on a fallen Himeko, and she gives her a kiss as her birthday present. The End.

WTF? Cliches abound, but I’ve always wanted to see Marimite X Gundam.

the “gokigenyou” sounded like some injoke to me. the writers must have known of marimite. what other anime use this greeting besides those two?

I swear, Kannaduki HAS to be a parody, no one could make this show and be serious about it.

OMG Bleach 2 has Gokigenyou also! Gokigenyou fever is sweeping the planet! I thought the exact same thing as Fencedude when I saw this episode. Reminded me of a sentai show actually. A Marimite Sentai show.

“Gokigenyou” was used in the rich girl’s school episode of Bakuten, among other assorted anime that I can’t exactly recall at the moment…but I think it’s becoming synonymous with Marimite -_^ Then again, any anime featuring a serene girl’s school and yuri galore reminds me of Marimite….

I’d be surprised if they didn’t at least half-intend Gokigenyou as a joke. ;) This show is really combining two hugely popular shows/genres together, that is, Marimite/Gundam. It’s also got Utena thrown in (IMO, Marimite already had a few “elements” of Utena in it) – even independent from Marimite (something about it just makes me feel Utena, albeit not very much so. Perhaps the rose garden here reminds me more of the Utena one.).
But of course if you see this character in ep 2, like I said in BluWacky’s blog, if you don’t think Utena when you see this person (not Utena the person, but rather the show — okay, Anthy specifically), …

but the robots, don’t they resemble super robots more rather than Gundam ?

the gokigenyou, remember that it’s used in MB Re.Act also. must be some ojousama thing

Ugh. I think ‘Gokigenyo’ is just a normal, highly formal greeting students use with each other in school. I don’t think it’s any parody of Maria-sama ga Miteru. But the scene with the mecha and the two girls kissing was pretty funny…
Anyway, this anime seems to have some potential for nice shoujo-ai. Looking forward to the upcoming episodes and reviews! ^___^
