After a rollercoast of a ride through 50 episodes, Full Metal Alchemist finally draws to a close! Things didn’t look too hot at first for our various heros. Envy impaled Ed through his arm, Al was slowly becoming chow for Gluttony to gobble up, and the Fuhrer continued to make sushi out of Mustang. However, this is the end of the series, and we can’t have the bad guys win can we? 
Luckily for Mustang, the Fuhrer’s “son” comes back to make sure that his father is ok, but unforuately for the Fuhrer, his “son” brought along his treasure, the skull of the Fuhrer! The skull freezes the Fuhrer in his tracks and gives Mustang enough time to recover. With the Fuhrer’s skull in hand, Mustang proceeds to burn the Fuhrer to a bloody pulp. Meanwhile, Al manages to rise up against all odds and decides to perform a transmuation to bring Ed back to life while sacrificing his own. With no Philosopher’s Stone left, Dante scurries off the scene, but a hungry Gluttony manages to chase after her….
When Ed finally regains conscious, he finds that he has regained both his missing limbs, but is distraught by the fact that Al is completely gone. After sending out Rose and Wrath out of the building, Ed proceeds to destroy the underground city so that no one may attempt to find the Philosopher’s Stone again. In the process, Ed sacrifices his own life to bring Al back alive again.
At the end, everything somehow manges to work out.
- The military turns power over to a governing parliament.
- Al regains his body, but it’s back in the form of a 10 year old from when him and Ed performed the transmutation to bring back their mother. Also, Al has no memory of the struggle he and Ed went through to find the Philosopher’s Stone.
- Mustang slowly recovers from his attack by the Fuhrer, and Hawkeye keeps a close eye on his recovery.
- Ed doesn’t really die; he finds himself back in the “other” world where he and his father live together.
To conclude the series, both brothers vow to find each other once again. Ed theorizes that he can take a rocket up to the heavens to get to the other world, and Al once again finds himself under the teaching of Izumi to master his alchemy. With that, another series draws to a close, but most of you can agree that it was one memorable and exciting ride to watch through each episode and live through the struggles of Ed and Al. One complain about this particular episode I have was that it wasn’t really made clear how Al was finally able to get up from that transmutation array after laying on his back for so long. Also, omgwtfbbq is going on here??? But anyways, I hope you all enjoyed this series as much as I have! ^_^

GREAT series, loved it…yeah envy does become a dragon. saw the movie, it wasn’t too bad. interesting to see what happened to everyone and where they all go throughout the movie. is worth seeing though, especially if u loved the series as much as i did.

During the United States airing of the last episode, about half way through it showed new titles which said REVISED. It implies that the last part of the show was rewritten to satisify American norms. Can anyone tell me how it originally ended in the Japanese unedited episode?

well, you see, the souls of the dead in the “other” world powered the alchemy in the world of alchemy. when you are in the “other”, you lose the power that the gate makes from the souls.
I Didnt like the ending that much, after all that, they got their bodies back but didnt end up in the same world together. and al lost 4 years of his life. That was a really good anime, am sad it had to end too.They realy coulda kept FMA going. up till like 70eps or until they got back together. no more than a hundred eps cuz some animes lose their edge after a while.

ed’s voice actor is vic… mignora or something… and al’s is arron dismuke…. i am not the best at spelling but that is it. and i saw that the ova’s are in chibi form…. ed and al are both human and roy has the patch on eye. and they are all cute looking. i hope that there will be an english version…. or maby a chibi series? dont kill me for it… it seemed soo cute!

OMG just watched the movie(japanise with english sub) last night like at 2:00 in the morning, (Don’t ask!!!) It was awsome, and in the end it made me cry. Hey i was wondering the gypsey girl in the other world (our world) that ed fell in love with, is she aspose to be roses twin or somn becuse they kina look alike. Over all, i think the movei was SOOO great and if your a fma fan this is a MUST see.

Watch the movie it’s really good and it ties off the season completely. BUT… I will warn you that that ending is like one of the worst endings in anime history (in my opinion)!!!! They have the movie on YouTube.com and the series. In the movie you also find out what happens to like evryone from the series. And I think that movie comes out overseas in Aug!? Not positive though

i learnt today what envy’s real form is. i didn’t know it was that guy, i thought he was just turning into him for the hang of it. he was in his real form before he killed ed… poor ed… anyway, for all those fans of full metal alchemist, you guys rock!

What if shortly after Ed and al’s travels in this world the noticed someone that looked strikingly like Dante, in near Japan. Ed tells Al about there is everyone’s double on the other side of the gate then remember that he already seen Dante’s double. Looking for answers he runs around the town looking for her only to smell her scent on a peace of clothing he finds. So he run’s back to Germany to look for answer to see was it really her and find the other girl still there without that scent. Ed knowing something is up go’s to the building where they held envy to find him gone and something strange written on the stone’s kill Hohenhim even tho his father is dead. He then run up stairs to the spot where he found the incomplete circle and tried to use it again to open it but didn’t work. After that he and al both worry about there world and what is going on. Al tries to make him feel better about it telling him gluttony killed Dante, and his worrying for nothing. As he passes a man of African decent the man noticed Ed’s automail, and approached him. They where from the same world but different time periods he was what could have been and Ed and Al was what was. He traveled back a forward between words learning magic of this world and of his world for over 700 years. He maintained his youth only because his father attached his soul to the body of three Homunculi combine through alchemy. And letter revealing that his father was there fathers teacher and that’s where he went when he left home for his research. And Hohenhim was not willing to do as his father did with the fussing of homunculi because the homunculi have to be emotionally linked to the soul of the one that will be attached. And he explain that his body is made up of this fallen brothers and sister. Because the emotional attachment the body will not reject the soul since it is made of homunculi it will not die. But in the war on ishbal his father attached his brother’s and sister’s remains to the gate and he could not cross back over. Then he said something about a sweet smelling woman named Dante came to him asking a lot of questions and demanded the secret’s of alchemy from him since his father just about knew them all expect one. And with that she flow away on what seemed to be a dragon(envy). So Ed and al were ready to try to find away to cross the gate to stop Dante but the man reviled that his father has been trying for years to deceiver the ultimate foam of alchemy and that is to truly become a God a living deity. And control both worlds. And he was trapped here because he tried to stop his father from making another mistake and started to talk about how he wished could have stopped his father from murdering his family, and doing what he did, etc. So he introduces them to his son from this side of the gate and started to teach them everything he knows and showed them how to return. And when they returned it was in the middle of the mountains over what was ishbal. They made the journey home to find that there house had been rebuilt, and as good as knew. When they seen this they knew it could only mean one thing. So they rushed in the house to find there father. There explained after he opened the other gate he found himself inside the gate once again and found his body that he started out with 400 years ago. The gate attached them together and then he found himself laying on there mother’s grave. So they go in this big thing about how and why it happened because be returned all he gained and got back what he lost. The 400 years of memories, the stone, life and a homunculi son from the gate. Since Homunculi are from the other side of the gate, and his son returned to the other side of the gate where he came from and the stone was all used up when he opened the gate on the other side, and he also buried his feelings for his lost son and satisfied the homunculi revenge, and gave up the 400 plus years of memories he got his one wish to be able to become a father to his children. So then they tell him about Dante and Father and everything that’s going on. All of a sudden he sees Winry out the window and step’s outside to greet her, her eye’s water, his water, he run’s screaming her name, she do the same, etc., etc. So all 5 (Ed, Al, Hohenhim, Winrey, and the new dude) set out on the greatest journey of all time to stop father and Dante (and Winry learn alchemy that she apply to making her automail only and learn more along the way the new dude got a thing for rose) so how is that for a story line hit me up at Corey_giles2003@yahoo.com and tell me what you think make changes where you think there needed and maybe we can come up with a good enough story line to send to them and make them start a new season

I haven’t seen the whole series, for i began watching it only a month ago, because i got really bored and desided to turn on the tv at 11:30 pm. And I just saw the last episode today. Naturally I was confused, I thought they were going to continue the series. I must say, out of the 20 someodd episodes i’ve seen, it’s the best anime I’ve seen in 6 years. But they ended it! is pisses me off and makes me sad. they killed lust and greed!(and probabley some other cool characters) and ed and made it look like every other good person was going to die! !@##$&*! dammit why do they have to end every really good anime series so early?! To answer questions that I’ve read:
Lust gets killed by Wrath. If you didn’t see it happen, in the last few episodes, Ed tells Gluttony about it, and that is when Gluttony becomes severely depressed (more than he was when she was just “missing”).
When Ed kills Greed, moments before is when Dante “hops” into Leera’s body, and that is when Leera is no more.
Dante gets eaten by Gluttony, how else would she have gotten away from him, and him still be in the movie (and so freaking powerful, at that?). Gluttony eats tons of the philosopher’s stone out of Al’s armor right before Al summons Ed’s body back from the dead.
**SPOILER**
To the “what happened to envy?” question.
When he opens the gate and the monsters take him, you see him turn into Ed, maybe they’ll let him pass since they did before, but that doesn’t work, so he turns into a giant green dragon (just like the one in Dragonball Z) and he flies through. Well in the movie, isn’t there a giant green dragon that attacks Ed, and is later caught and used to open the gate to the alchemic world? There’s your answer.
Now for everyone crying about the movie being the end, well, I hate to tell you, but there were more than 51 episodes in Japan.

Oh yes, another question I forgot to answer about Envy’s gender.
Envy is a male. He is repeatedly referred to as Dante and Hohenheim’s first “son” and to quote Dante as best I can, “I guess that means you can call him your brother.”
Something I came upon while googling Fullmetal Alchemist that people might find interesting.

I read a quote somewhere from Wrath, something along the lines like “he’s one of the 7, a monster like us!”. Now, I thought this was a quote from the movie, wrath talking about Gluttony, but then I remembered that there were only 6 actual homuculii, which makes you think more, why name them after the 7 deadly sins, if there are only going to be 6 of them? If you google FMA – Pride, and select images, you can see images of a homuculus that looks just like Ed (and it’s clearly a homuculus, not just Ed in costume).
I’ve had no confirmation as to how this 7th homuculus comes into play (I’ve confirmed that it IS actually Ed though, and he is a homuculus). My own theory is that it’s Ed’s body from when he draws transmutation circles on himself and brings Al’s body back in the 51st episode, but he left his soul behind to go to the other world, and maybe Dante got some of the Philosopher’s Stone out of Gluttony from when he was eating it out of Al, and fed it to Ed’s soulless body and turned him into a homuculus with her cool powers.
Something else that I read is that he’s just a character in a rare japanese game where only 100 copies were made, and in the end Ed turns into a homuculus named Pride.
Well that’s plausible, but that doesn’t answer the mystery of the show only having 6 homuculii named after the 7 deadly sins.
How come there are only 2 english intros while the japanese have 4?

you know i made the mistake of watching the movie before actually watching the last episode, i was sooooooo lost during the movie, but now that i kno what happens in the final episode, it all makes sence to me
so…. is the english ep. 51 a CONDENSATION of all the extra/other japanese episodes that didn’t air in America? or.. are they actually set AFTER the last american episode?! and just HOW do they fit with the movire!??! ANSWERS!

there never were more than 51 episodes in japan or america of THE ANIME. however, the MANGA is still being made, and the storyline of the anime diverges from that of the manga a/b halfway thru the series.

2 Greed- We know Greed, He is the Human Shield and the first to die.
3 Lust- The black haired chick with the spears for fingers, also Scars brothers Girlfriend
4 Envy- The first son of hoenhiem Brought back by Hoenhiem and dante
5 Gluttony- The one who eats everything and is in love with lust

For the coment of JustUseGoogle, lol, man, you are talking about the MANGA!!! (that differs a lot from the anime) not the anime, the manga is still running (its already on the 72th chapter), the anime ends with Al and Ed trapped in our world (as we can see on one of teh 3 OVAs that came out after the movie), but for now, the anime is done, sorry, but you can still enjoy the manga.

Ed can’t use alchemy in the “other” world, because that world is OUR world. We can’t use alchemy, and it was explained that all the energy from the “other” world, goes into his world to make alchemy, so if the “other” world used alchemy, ed’s couldn’t. It’s just the wasy stuff works out.

I have to say that even though it takes a while to watch it all, even on DVD, it is still the best anime i have ever seen.
