In an episode that is almost completely filler (even by BakuTen standards), the team decides to take a break by visiting the grand opening of a posh water/amusement park. While Leo shows of his manly chest/pubic hair in his speedo (er, I guess this is fanservice…), most of the girls don rather reasonable swimsuits and have a ball. While the bust sizes had been getting increasingly unrealistic, Sei’s swimsuit was simply absurd this time. The fun is ruined, however, when a mutant squid busts out and tries to destroy the entire park. To Leo’s dismay, Jo jumps into Jango for some hot mecha-on-squid action that ends with an explosive and messy conclusion.
Maybe the mutant squid wasn’t well explained, and maybe this episode was completely pointless. Still, it was another classic, because it was crammed full of good stupid fun. I was surprised to see Leo’s wild side; he had always seemed like a pretty cool-headed guy when fixing Jango. The explanation that the mutant squid was some kind of squid god out to seek revenge on those who ate too much barbequed squid was pretty amusing as well. After all, even the OP has an engrish warning that in order to enjoy this show you have to “Loosen that booty and move your body.” Everybody loosey!

Heh, the kami-squid was too cool (^_^)
And I think that the assessment of this series as “good stupid fun” is spot-on — I’m not sure if the corny-ness is intentional (i.e. when Meg’s chakra was unredirected by the acupuncturist), but it’s definately one-of-a-kind
PS: BakuTen’s Engrish is downright infectious – I was watching Naruto, and kept on cracking up whenever Konoha’s “numbah one rookie” was introduced XD
no more update on bakuretsu tenshi esp 16? and so on?
