Finally, the real reason for the evacuations becomes clear, as the Genesis Mission calls for the remaining stations to be sacrificed in order to slow down the Cosmic Fracture. Things look even bleaker as it seems the Fracture is able to use its gravitational irregularities to deflect the energy beams that the Infinity is firing. Moreover, while Shima is finally calm during the real thing, Kouta is starting to freak out under the pressure. Only two foundations remain, and the second is none other than their beloved Stellvia. The Cosmic Fracture is not about to just sit back on defense, however, and immediately targets the Infinity. Shima has no choice but to activate her own gravitational field at maximum power and deflect the blast to the Halcyon. Shima-chan noooo!
Kouta has been played brilliantly the last two episodes. In spite of what he says and what he wants to believe, it’s clear that he thinks that he is the only one that can complete the Genesis Mission. He loves Shima, but he doesn’t trust her yet, and he keeps trying to take more and more of the burden upon himself. However, the Mission is too much for any one person to handle, and it will take teamwork to beat the Cosmic Fracture. The only thing I’m not buying in these episodes is Dai’s sudden emergence as a leader and critic of computer programs. I mean, he does nothing during the season and all the sudden he is able to spot flaws in Shima’s programming and hack into servers with ease? I was under the impression that his only talent lies in consuming massive quantities. Aside from this nitpick, Uchuu no Stellvia continues to march stoically towards a fantastic end of the season.
