Tendouji High School’s superstar captain Aikawa Kazuhiko transfers to Mizuho and finds that there are only 4 members on the “men’s basketball team” there. Even though the school has a 6-time defending national champion women’s team, the men’s team has had some troubles and doesn’t even practice any more. Naturally, Aikawa sets out to change all that, and starts by dealing with angsty teammate Fujiwara. Fujiwara doesn’t want to play (literally), so Aikawa is forced to school the women’s team for practice.
Dear Boys isn’t exactly new, and I don’t know how much buzz there was about it, but when my friends and I first saw this series last year, we couldn’t stop making fun of it. Unfortunately, it was too troublesome to find, and after 4 or so episodes, most of us dropped it. Recently, however, I saw that the torrents for all 26 episodes had been put up, and I couldn’t help myself. After all, this series combines several of my favorite things: basketball + anime + engrish == winnah! I also can’t think of any adjectives to describe the OP. With that said, this series may not be for everyone, since the production value is kinda low (I had initial fugly shock when I saw the animation again). The animators spent more time CG’ing basketballs than they did in animating character action, so don’t be fooled by the screencaps.

I think Rukawa would probably win in a 1-on-1, since he is just as talented as Aikawa, and he has a major height advantage. If I remember correctly, they both play the same position (SF). And if their teams played, I think Shohoku would wipe the floor with Mizuho.

beacause i see that rukawa can’t beat sendoh, that is almost the same height as rukawa and that is also a fair fight for their talents in basketball.
height is nothing for aikawa to play against slamdunk characters such as sendoh or rukawa cuz he can slamdunk in almost a free throw line at a height of 5’5 ft. also he is a very talented player, an all around player i guess. he can dunk, 3 point shot,rebound, very quick move and survive for 10 munite full court press (plenty of stamina) even ryota miyagi and kenji fujima has no ability to reach the rim and dunk. in the first episode the coach of mizuho basketball team says that aikawa is the no. player in japan and the characters of slamdunk is just only starting for their goal to become no. 1. the only thing that i want to see a match is maki vs. aikawa because i see that maki is the best player in slamdunk series cuz he can play on 4 players on shohoku except for sakuragi.

I like the move of aikawa in the first episode when the girl pass the ball to him and it was an ugly pass letting the ball go to the outside line but it was save by aikawa and then fires a three point shot AND then catch the ball again before it goes on the floor!! and release a powerfull dunk even he was the same height as ryota of slamdunk!
The story is too short in only 26 episodes!!! I want to watch more about the result after they lose to East Honmoku. And I want to see how the sixth man perform his skills. Please email me if the next series are show down.
i read the comics … and didnt watch the show. but i can say that at the beginning.. the drawing really teruk la… but it gets way better as it gets older.. and the 2nd section of the series is pretty cool..

Please, don’t say bullshit. Aikawa has incredible skills, but neither Rukawa or Sendoh are sissies. They are taller and probably phisically stronger than him.The wheight and the eight are nothing? Put Iverson in an one on one vs James, TMac or Bryant, and just looks who will win. Plus, in slam dunk there are more strong players than in dear boys, and, of course, ther is more competition to be the no. 1. And, if you want to compare the best player in slam dunk, Eiji Sawakita, who appears only in the manga, with Aikawa, then, it’s no match. Sawakita is a MONSTER who can completely shut down rukawa and who can beat even university player with his one on one skills …
