Although not too much action goes on in this episode, viewers get a good overview of Jiraiya and his past as he and Naruto headed out of Konoha. It was pretty amusing to see that Jiraiya struggled like Naruto as a youngster as Sarutobi just played him for the noob ninja that Jiraiya was :-p I’m guessing the bell test differed from sensei to sensei since Orochimaru and Tsunade got the bells, and readers will likely remember that Kakashi’s test stressed more teamwork in getting the bells. Meanwhile, Itachi and sharkface continue to plot on how they will snatch Naruto from the watchful eyes of Jiraiya. Sasuke eventually finds out that Naruto is being chased by Itachi, and races out to try and catch up to Jiraiya and Naruto. All in all, a pretty light-hearted episode that gave viewers a better appreciation for Jiraiya.
